Village of Saugerties

Biography

The Vincent A Buono Jr family has resided in the Village of Saugerties for 39 plus years.  Vince has lived in the town of Saugerties his entire life, having grown up in Glasco.  Ruthann, his wife, is retired after working 40 plus years in the electrical supply industry.

The Buonos have 4 children.  Gabriel is married with 2 children  He is the principal at Bennett Middle School in the Onteora School System.  Damien is married with 2 children and is a medical device sales representative for Johnson and Johnson.  Matthew has 2 children and works as a mortgage broker for Homestead Funding.  Vincent J also  has 2 children and is a CPA with RBT.

Vince is a graduate of Saugerties High School, SUNY Ulster and SUNY at Albany.  He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in marketing and management.  Vince is a Vietnam Era Veteran having served in the Air Force from 1970 to 1974.  He was honorably discharged in 1976 having achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant.  While on active duty, he worked as a Medical Service Technician and then as an Inhalation Therapy Technician.

Vince retired from Ikon Office Solutions in 2003.  Early in his career, he worked as an outside sales representative selling office equipment throughout the Hudson Valley.  Many years were spent as a sales manager.  His responsibilities included but were not limited to: leading and directing a sales team; developing a budget; and, maintaining the sales facility.

Vince served on the Saugerties School Board of Trustees from 2001 to 2007.

He played softball in the Saugerties Athletic Association for many years.  He also dedicated many years to the youth of Saugerties coaching in the Saugerties Little League, the Saugerties Babe Ruth League and the Saugerties Biddy Basketball League.  Vince is currently a member of the Kiwanis Club and the American Legion.

Village Government Tenure

Vince Buono was elected to his current position as a Trustee on the Village Board, on March 16, 2010. 

He was re-elected in 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020 and 2022 and his current term lasts until 2024.

Responsibilities:

Vince has the following roles, as a member of the Village Board:

• Financial Officer of the Board of Trustees.  Responsibilities include annual Budget planning, Budget implementation.  
• Head of traffic and transportation matters, representing the Mayor and the Village of Saugerties at Saugerties Transportation Advisory Committee (STAC), Ulster County Transportation Council (UCTC) and other meetings.
• The Village Board's Economic Development Committee representative.  In this capacity, Vince addresses items related to the economic vitality of the Village of Saugerties, and is the liaison to the Saugerties Economic Development Committee.
• The Village Ethics Committee liaison
